Meet the Boothby Wildland Team
Boothby Wildland, October 2023
Not only do we want to share all the news from Boothby Wildland, but we also want you to know who we are. We like to think of ourselves as a very small (but hopefully perfectly formed…!) team who are genuinely dedicated to the work we do. Our two longest serving people are Lizzie Lemon (Site and Communities Coordinator, above right) and Lorienne Whittle (Project Manager for Landscape Recovery, above left).
Lizzie is responsible for the daily goings-on at Boothby – essentially all the operations involved with running a 617ha site, from dealing with fencing contractors to updating social media. And as Community Coordinator Lizzie is working to build and develop relationships within our local community. She has a degree in countryside management and has worked for the Rutland Osprey Project for the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust.
Lorienne is the Project Manager for the Government-funded ELMs Landscape Recovery project. This means that she has the fascinating task of working with consultants, other landowners, specialists, and the local community to uncover the rich ecological understanding of Boothby Wildland. From bird surveys to river restoration, Government policy to community engagement, Lorienne oversees all that we do across the site. She has a degree in ecology, a masters in primate conservation and is a geography teacher – so we like to think we are in safe hands
In October 2023, we welcomed Lloyd Park as our new Ranger, a really important role that will see him out and about across the land. From carrying out plant and animal surveys and making our paths safe and accessible, working with the local community to habitat management, there’s a lot for him to do! He’s pretty local too, having spent over a decade working for the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, and more recently at Wild Ken Hill. If you see him on site do say hi.
